Our Story

We opened our doors December, 2004 in a quiet little gem of a neighborhood in Santa Monica, California called Sunset Park. Our goal was to provide a venue for American artists and craftspeople to display their handmade work in a friendly, ‘funky’ environment called ARTFUL.

Over the years we became part of a unique community of friends, neighbors and artists.  Our customers were part of that community and often referred to ARTFUL as the go-to place for gifts.  It was a place to shop, chat and cultivate enduring relationships – something uniquely possible with small shops.

Then in February 2020 the COVID-19 pandemic unexpectedly and drastically changed everything. As weeks then months went on it became sadly apparent that ARTFUL could no longer continue as it was and was forced to close.

Along with everyone else we have had to adjust our personal and business lives the best we could, learning along the way.  While we miss our shop and customers very much we are determined to carry on.  With that in mind, we have transitioned into an ‘ARTFUL-online’ alternative, committed to carrying the same handcrafted, reasonably priced items.
